Family Friendly New Year’s Ideas

Whistler is gearing up to ring in New Year's Eve 2018 and as one might expect, there is definitely no shortage of New Year's Eve parties in and around town. Everything from elaborate dinner parties to evenings filled with dancing and champagne are set to take place on the last day of the month. But sometimes, not everyone in the family enjoys staying up until midnight. We've rounded up the best family-friendly options from children's entertainment to fireworks and more. Whistler Presents: New Year's Eve Fireworks

Location: Skier's Plaza | Time: 11:30 PM

Ring in the New Year in Whistler Village! Witness a special edition of the Fire & Ice Show plus dazzling fireworks starting at 11:30 PM to welcome 2018. Fireworks are best viewed from Skier’s Plaza located at the base of Whistler Mountain.

The Arts Centre

On New Year’s Eve, all three levels of the Arts Centre will come alive with sparkling entertainment, live music, and illuminated characters. Experience an explosion of creative arts and crafts, face painting, balloon twisting, children’s dance party and arcade games will rekindle magic and adventure in your hearts.

The Conference Centre

To top it all off, there are two kid’s countdowns complete with a balloon drop and a giant bubble wrap stomp. Make sure to get your hand stamped for one of the kids countdowns in advance on NYE.

Come in from the cold to experience a variety of performances, a giant craft zone, and the famous teen dance.  Another energized early kids countdown will take place at this location at 9 p.m. (No advanced registration is required for this one).

Tips for Celebrating New Years In Whistler with Kids

  • Start your celebration at a time that works for you. 
  • Enjoy a celebratory activity with the family such as skiing, ice skating or dinner/dessert out. 
  • Toast to the New Year with a mocktail in fancy glassware either at a restaurant or in your hotel. 
  • The countdown doesn't have to be at midnight. Begin it at a time that is convenient for you and your family. 
  • Get fancy and dress up!
