Vallea Lumina
Vallea Lumina Whistler is an enchanting award-winning multi-media experience set deep in the Whistler forests. It combines the natural beauty of the Whistler coastal rainforest with stunning lights and audio to create a magical interactive experience. The Vallea Lumina nighttime excursions follow cryptic radio transmissions and the lingering traces of two long-ago hikers, guiding you along a stunning and mystical journey. This unique experience required advanced booking, and rides are provided to and from the location.
Do we absolutely have to book in advance or can we buy tickets on-site?
We strongly recommend that you book your tickets online, ahead of time, in order to reserve your desired start time.
What do I do with my ticket?
Please have your ticket ready on your smart device or printed to present at the venue.
When and where should I show up for the experience?
Please arrive at the venue at your designated showtime. Follow Google Maps or Waze to Cougar Mountain Road, Whistler BC just a 10 minute drive from Whistler village. There is complimentary parking at the venue.
What happens in case of bad weather?
Summer – The experience still takes place even in the rain; be sure to bring a rain jacket, umbrellas are not allowed as it may affect the viewing experience of other guests. We may cancel due to thunder or lightning storms but will give notice and re-book where possible.
Winter – The experience still takes place even in the rain and snow; be sure to dress for the weather, with warm waterproof layers. Wear appropriate winter footwear for example insulated winter boots, gloves, scarves and toques recommended. Snowshoes and umbrellas are not permitted.
How much walking is involved, and how long should I schedule for the experience?
Summer –The pathway is 1.5 km of undulating trail and takes between 50 minutes to 80 minutes to complete depending on each visitor..
Winter – The pathway is 1km of mostly levelled and flat trail and takes between 40 minutes to 60 minutes to complete depending on each visitor.
Would this experience be suggested for children, elderly people or for people with reduced mobility?
Summer – The entire experience takes place outside within a trail network which is partially levelled but not asphalted. These paths are not recommended for people with reduced mobility since they consist of several steep staircases, that are both up and down. Using a baby carrier is recommended and strollers are not permitted including the off-road/sports models.
Winter – The trail is mostly flat with one staircase, however trail conditions will vary depending on the weather so snow and ice may be possible.
Is the parking free?
There is complimentary parking at the venue. Please arrive at the venue at your designated showtime. Follow Google Maps or Waze to Cougar Mountain Road, Whistler BC just a 10 minute drive from Whistler village.
Is there transportation to the venue?
We will be offering transportation for a limited amount of tickets per showtime. In the booking window, please select ‘Adults or Youth with Transportation’ if this option is not available, we have sold out for that showtime. Please choose another day or time. Or choose a regular ticket without transportation and park at our complimentary parking lot at Cougar Mountain Basecamp. Please be advised children under 9 years old and 4’9″ that use car/booster seats cannot take the shuttle.
What happens if I show up late?
You will be able to enter the site even if you are late, however you may be delayed if other showtimes are sold out. Please note that entry will not be permitted prior to your reserved start time if you arrive earlier.
If we cannot make our showtime, can we postpone our visit to a later date or get a refund?
The experience of Vallea Lumina is comparable to a concert or an entrance to the cinema. If you can not be present for your showtime, we cannot make any refunds or changes.
Are pets allowed?
Pets are not permitted on site.
What shoes should I wear?
Summer – Closed toe shoes are recommended, high heeled shoes or boots are not advised.
Winter – Insulated winter footwear with sole tread appropriate for snow and ice. Snowshoes are not permitted. Yaktrax, microspikes or crampons are permitted but not required.
Can I take pictures and videos?
Yes! However, flash photography is not permitted.
Are restrooms available at the entrance or during the journey?
Restrooms are available at the venue before you begin the experience as well as after you complete it.
Is it possible to eat on site?
The Cougar Cafe, our on-site snack bar, will allow you to discover several local product flavours and is located at the entrance area.
Is there alcohol for sale on site?
The Adventure Group has a strict zero tolerance alcohol and drug policy for all activities including Vallea Lumina.
Is there strobe lighting effects during the show?
Strobe lighting effects are used during this show. Guests that may suffer from epilepsy or are affected by visual light stimulation effects are advised to contact the ranger staff prior to embarking on the walk.
