WHISTLER LIFE

Don’t Miss These January Whistler Events!

The New Year is upon us – and with all the fun stuff happening in and around Whistler this month, there’s no time to sit around at home twiddling your thumbs.

The holiday season has come and gone, and now it’s time to enjoy the best of Whistler. January is one of the most exciting months in town: your legs are finally feeling strong enough to withstand all different types of skiing, there’s lots of snow to explore, and yet the end of the season is still far, far away. In other words, life is good – especially if Santa treated you to some new ski gear this year.

When you’re ready to take a break from skiing, here are some events and activities to check out this month in Whistler.

ARC’TERYX Deep Winter Photo Challenge – January 9

Whistler-Heli-Skiing2

Grab your tickets now, because the Deep Winter photo challenge always sells out. This awesome event features six professional action sports photographers who, over the course of three days, set up to capture shots of their crew of athletes in Whistler’s best terrain.

It’s a high stress week for the talented photographers and athletes, but as a spectator, your job is easy: sit back, relax, and enjoy the stories told in slideshows featuring photos that will have you itching to slip into your ski or snowboard boots.

Performance Series: Antony & Cleopatra – January 13

Think Whistler is all sports, no culture? Think again! The Whistler Performance Series features a wide variety of cultural events including theatrical productions. This month’s offering is Shakespeare’s beloved Antony & Cleopatra. Head to the Maury Young Arts Centre to enjoy a nosh on freshly-baked meat pies and a few sips of English ale to get you in the mood for a fantastic soiree of entertainment.

Snowed In Comedy Tour – January 18-20

Get ready to laugh. And laugh. And laugh. The Snowed In Comedy Tour is an annual tour that takes a squad of big-name comedians through some fantastic Canadian ski towns for a night of comedy.

Except in Whistler, one night simply isn’t enough – we love to laugh, so the Snowed In Comedy Tour treats us to three shows. Trust us – you don’t want to miss Dan Quinn, Craig Campbell, Pete Zedlacher, and Paul Myrehaug as they take the stage at the Garibaldi Lift Company.
