WHISTLER LIFE

2018 New Year’s Ski Resolutions

As December comes to a close and the New Year looms, it's time to start making a few resolutions. While many of us turn to creating goals that aim to improve health or habits, we at Whistler Reservations are all about making our ski season as good as it can possibly be! And so, this New Years, we are going to ditch the cliche resolutions and go right for the ones that are guaranteed to stick- the ones that involve more skiing!

I SHALL WAKE UP EARLY!

As the saying goes, the early bird gets the pow. This year, we are setting our alarm even earlier and instead of being 25th in line, we are aiming for top ten to ensure we get the first turns of the day. Better yet, we are going to start our day off with a Fresh Tracks breakfast to really get off on the right foot!

I SHALL TUNE MY SKIS!

If you want to keep your skis or snowboard performing like they're designed to, it's important to tune them regularly. Well, we want to be able to grab our equipment and go which means we need it in top form. This year, we're going to stay on top of it and plan for regular tunes!

I SHALL STRETCH!

This season, we are going to try to remember to do some ski stretches after a day on the hill. Stretching can help relieve muscle soreness and get us back into action for the next day of shredding the slopes!

I SHALL CHALLENGE MYSELF!

We're not going to take unnecessary risks but we will try to challenge ourselves this year. This could be in the form of taking a lesson or even working up to riding a specific line.

I SHALL APRES HARDER AND LONGER

There's nothing quite like a celebratory drink after a day on the hill. In 2018, we are going to make more of an effort to end up at Dusty's Bar and BBQ, Merlin's or the Garibaldi Lift Company at the end of a full day of skiing. In fact, we aren't just going to enjoy a pint, we making a point of dancing in our ski boots!

I SHALL SKI MORE!

The most important resolution for 2018 is to spend more time skiing. Staying in Whistler, waking up early, stretching and tuning our skis are all just ways of adding more days to our season.  At the end of it all, no matter how old you are or what you do, sliding on snow is still the best feeling and who wouldn't want more of that?

Here's to a year filled with doing more of what you love, Happy New Year!
