Though most people know Whistler as a skiing or mountain biking destination, there’s a romantic side to our incredible town.
Every year, countless couples take their relationship to the next step right here in Whistler. We don’t blame them – Whistler is a special place that’s away from the hustle and bustle of regular life. There are also a ton of really cool places and activities to work into your proposal, making it pretty easy to impress your partner (the “yes” rate in Whistler is very high).
The best part? No matter what type of person you are or what kind of activities you and your partner enjoy, there’s a unique Whistler proposal opportunity for you. Here are a few of the best ones that we’ve heard about.
Foodies looking to make a restaurant proposal will have plenty of options to choose from in Whistler. For instance, the Bearfoot Bistro – known for creating memorable experiences – has a few flashy proposal opportunities for you. Order a bottle of champagne with your dinner and head down to the restaurant’s incredible cellar, where you’ll get the opportunity to saber the bottle. Of course, you can use the champagne to toast your engagement!
An on-mountain proposal is perfect for a snow-loving couple. Find a quiet nook in the forest to pop the question (bonus points for bringing along a picnic or bottle of champagne in your backpack), or go all out and get engaged on a heli-skiing trip.
Those looking for a low-key proposal should go exploring and let nature do all the work. Proposing on an alpine hike surrounded by wildflowers with the Black Tusk towering in the background is just about as good as it gets.
Think about it: the moments before you’re about to jump off a bridge and plunge towards a rushing river are already pretty adrenaline-packed. Imagine making your partner’s heart beat a little faster by shouting the question as he or she makes the fall!
If you and your partner at the type that feel the need for speed, book a snowmobiling tour (in the winter) or an ATVing tour (in the summer) and incorporate your proposal into the tour. Talk to us when you’re reserving your tour and we’ll give you some tips on the best spots to make it happen.
Prefer to pop the question away from the crowds? If you prefer to keep your special moment private, plan to pop the question in your hotel room. Work with your hotel to morph your room into a special space: while you’re out at dinner, they can probably send up a few flowers, set out a bottle of champagne, and leave you with treats to celebrate. Voila – an intimate proposal for two!
