The beach with so much to offer! Out of all the incredible beaches in Whistler, we think Alpha is one of the greatest to cool down at. Alpha Lake in the Creekside area and a quick bike, skate or drive from the village. Alpha Lake Park has a great sandy beach with the perfect amount of afternoon sun. Picnic tables in the shaded grass area create a perfect place to set up camp for the day. When you’re not jumping off the dock or floating in the lake, relax and enjoy the gorgeous mountain view from the shore. If you have a slackline, tennis racquet or volleyball, be sure to bring them with you! Alpha Lake has designated areas for setting up slacklines, beach volleyball courts and tennis courts. You can also bring Fido along for a swim in the neighboring dog beach. For more details on Whistler’s lakes check out our post “The 411 on Whistler’s Beaches.”
Think you’re too old for ice cream? There is no such thing! Regardless of your age, it’s hard to resist the smell of fresh baking waffle cones as you walk past Cow’s any day. Let your self indulge in a refreshing treat and head over to the nearby Florence Petersen Park to relax by the wandering stream.
If you really want to earn your cool down head to Joffre Lakes! This 5.5km (one way) hike is broken up into three turquoise blue glacier feed lakes, all of which you can go for a dip in, making for a very refreshing journey! At the end of the third lake you will be beneath some pretty impressive glaciers, so if you don’t cool down in the lakes, you will at least find the view refreshing!
