The BC Day long weekend is upon us. This weekend marks the middle of summer as well as an opportunity for many Pacific Northwester's to hit the road and travel with their families. With the sun filled weather and warm temperatures, many are seeking Whistler as their weekend getaway location. Luckily, there are many activities happening in town this long weekend, making it one of the busiest, action-packed of the summer season. For your best experience yet in Whistler, we've gathered up all the fun things to do on BC Day long weekend!
A celebration of yoga and mindfulness in the mountains. This 4 day long festival takes place from July 28th to August 1st and is filled with yoga, outdoor adventure, speakers, markets, music and food. Find all varieties of yoga classes including aerial, stand up paddle board, mountain top and meditation. Classes are scheduled through the festival and require ticketed entry.
From July 29th to July 31st in Creekside, join competitors as they battle for a chance to win an invitation to the BBQ World Championships in Las Vegas. As the competitors challenge each other, you get to enjoy the fruits of their labor by sampling burgers, sauces, chilli, pork butt, chicken and ribs. It's guaranteed to be a delicious day!
The steepest race in the world is welcomed back to Whistler. Taking place on July 30th, racers test their endurance by sprinting up 400m while located high in the mountains. This is a true depiction of quad and calf capabilities! Head over to the Whistler ski jumps and cheer on the sprinters!
Enjoy the outdoor concerts, Steel Pulse on July 29th and Jose Gonzalez on July 30th at the Olympic Plaza. Grab a blanket and some snacks to enjoy while you lay under the stars and listen as music fills Whistler Village. The concerts start at 8:30pm and 9pm respectively.Â
Every Sunday from June 12 until October 9th, join merchants selling artisan goods in the upper village. Merchants are required to adhere to the 100% made, baked or grown policy of the B.C. Association of Farmers Markets. You will find everything from locally grown fruits and veggies to wood crafts and hand made soaps.  The market is open from 11am until 4pm.
In addition to all the events held over BC Day long weekend, there are plenty of outdoor activities to do in-between. Cool off in one of Whistler's many lakes, hike the alpine to see the wild flowers blooming or make an afternoon out of the bike park.
