Ready to party in the mountains? The World Ski and Snowboard Festival is returning to Whistler from April 10th-15th. Over the 6 days of the festival, world-class competitions, the largest annual free outdoor concert series in Canada, visual arts mega-productions, film premieres, community events and an endless lineup of parties will take over the village. This year has seen a slight change in the overall length of the festival but the quality and quantity of exciting things to do remain the same. Ready to find out what's in store?
When: Friday, April 13, 2018 & Saturday, April 14, 2018 – Blackcomb Mountain
Imagine racing down Blackcomb's Couloir Extreme at mach speed and you have the infamous Saudan Couloir Extreme Race. Known for inducing massive wipe-outs as well as daring entries into the couloir, the race has recently been added to the WSSF line up after a 20-year hiatus. Locals and visitors alike are welcome to participate. Do you dare?
When: Friday, April 13, 2018 & Saturday, April 14, 2018 – Blackcomb Mountain
The WSSF rendition of Boarder-X features a high-speed course with big-air moments as racers attempt to gain points from judges for the fastest time. Whistler is the last stop on the Monster Energy Boarder-X Tour which means the champions will be crowned at the end of the high-energy spectacle. This event takes place on Blackcomb Mountain so stop in while you're on the hill enjoying the incredible spring skiing.
When: Friday, April 13, 2018 (Ski) & Saturday, April 14, 2018 (Snowboard) – Skiers Plaza (base of Whistler Mountain)
The Big Air Ski and Snowboard competitions are held at the base of Whistler Mountain. In addition to the contest, internationally known DJ's will be playing music while the athletes attempt their biggest and best tricks. The crowds are huge at this event and the atmosphere is buzzing. Take it in from one of the many surrounding patios and then venture to a bar when its over to keep the party going.Â
When: Tuesday, April 10, 2018- Whistler Conference Centre. April 11 – 13: daily 12pm to 6pm
Under the new name Art & Soul, this gallery event provides a space for exemplary artists from all over to showcase their work for the duration of the festival. While strolling through the village, pop in, it's free until 6pm.
