Whistler Autumn – Top 5 Things To Do

For many die hard skiers and snowboarders, the Whistler Winter couldn’t come soon enough. In fact, it’s not uncommon to spot Whistler locals blowing clinging leaves off the trees, in hopes of speeding up the seasons change. If this sounds like you, be patient! While you anticipate the powder days, keep yourself busy with all there is to do this autumn in Whistler. Autumn is better known to Whistler locals as “Shoulder Season” or “Slow Season” because from Labour Day until the end of November when the ski hills open, life in Whistler completely slows down. Take advantage of the relaxed Whistler vibes, by enjoying the following “Slow Season” activities.

1. Hike
Not too hot, not too cold, cloud coverage, a light breeze, and you’ve got the perfect conditions for an Alpine hike. 3. Shop
During the fall, “shop till you drop!” With more than 200 shops in the Village alone, you’ll find everything you need or want, within steps from your accommodation. Now relaxed after a hectic summer, the local staff will help you sniff out the best deals, as stores clear their shelves to make way for this winter goodies. If you don’t mind crowds, the annual Turkey Sale, a massive flea-market of winter gear, attracts thousands. This year’s sale is from October 11 to October 14, 2013.

4. Eat
Eat, drink, and be merry! Whistler restaurants, après spots, pubs and nightclubs are legendary! Whistler has such a plethora of dining and evening entertainment options that you'll never be bored. A rainy fall day, won’t seem so bad when you’re enjoy a pint and a warm meal with great company, or a cup of coffee and a freshly baked cookie with a good book.

5. Relax
