Crankworx hits Whistler from August 9th-18th. The festival of the summer season features various mountain bike disciplines, workshops, competitions and so much more. But with so much to do and see, how does one fit it all in? If there's one person that knows how to make the most out of Crankworx, it's a Whistler local. We sat down and got the 411 on how to experience Crankworx like a local. Here's how!
Grab your walking shoes, to make the most out of this exciting mountain bike festival, you're going to be walking! There's a number of booths to see as well as events. According to locals, you'll gain a well round festival experience if you take to the stroll and let you feet be the guide.
Hot Local's Tip: Stroll through the booths then stop at Skier's Plaza to watch the athletes finish their events or races.Â
There's a number of events taking place every day throughout the course of the festival. Make sure to consult the official Crankworx schedule to plan which events you want to see. This will ensure that you catch the events while they are on and don't miss the action!
Hot Local's Tip: You can plan which events you want to see ahead of time as the schedule is available online.Â
Sometimes, the best way to experience Crankworx is to get a little bit dirty. What we mean, is that some of best spectating is on the mountain so don't be afraid to follow the crowds to areas open to event viewing.
Hot Local's Tip: Pack water. If you find a great spot to spectate, chances are, you're going to get thirsty and it can be a short walk back down the mountain to restaurants and cafes.Â
If walking to see the events isn't your style, hop on your mountain bike and hit the Whistler Mountain Bike Park. Somewhere inbetween riding your favourite trails, pull up to the race tape and get a first hand experience of Crankworx.
Hot Local's  Tip: Time your ride with your favourite events to see them from the chair lift.Â
Now that you know how to experience Crankworx like a local, you'll be able to catch all the events, enjoy the summer sun in Whistler, and even check out the Whistler Mountain Bike Park. Now, all you need is accommodation so let us at Whistler Reservations help you with the last piece of your Whistler summer vacation.
