A holiday in Whistler is always fun however planning your vacation around one the the events that take place will add an extra layer of excitement to your stay. There are a plethora of Whistler Events each year from world-class events, family-friendly events and parties that go down in the history books. Before planning your trip to Whistler view the Events below. If its for a night, a weekend or a long vacation make sure to check out as many of these happenings as you can. Keep in mind, Whistler Village hotels and accommodation often sell out during big events such as the World Ski and Snowboard Festival, Crankworx and the Christmas and New Years Holidays. ONGOING WINTER EVENTS

Kokanee Valley Race Series- Starting Dec 17

Held on Thursday nights throughout the winter the Kokanee Valley Race Series is a recreational race series for skiers, snowboarders and tele-marketers of different gender and age divisions.

Kid’s Night Out – Starting Dec 18

Kid’s Night Out is a night of fun for kids 5 – 7 years old. Dress your kids warm and drop them off at Blackcomb Kids, located at the base of Blackcomb. The night includes a series of indoor and outdoor activities (weather permitting) plus dinner, drinks and snacks.

King of the Rail – Starting Dec 19

This series of rail jam contests takes place next to the Fitzsimmons Chair from 7 – 9pm. There are separate categories for skiers and snowboarders; men and women; and adults and youth.

Made in Whistler Artisan Market – Starting Dec 19

Held at the Westin Resort and Spa Saturday’s Dec 19 – Apr 2. Explore unique hand-made items from local Whistler artists. You will find handcrafted jewelry, pottery, fine art, fashions and artisanal food.

This FREE outdoor event is a crowd favourite taking place Sunday’s throughout the winter. Watch big air displays by ski and snowboarders, fire spinners, DJs and a fireworks display. Fun for the whole family! Begins at 6:30pm at Skiers Plaza.

Family Après – Starting Dec 21

Après Ski is no longer just for adults! Bring the family to Whistler Olympic Plaza Monday and Wednesday’s between 4 – 6pm for Canadian-style winter fun. Build snowmen, go tobogganing and try skating plus many more family-friendly activities.

BC Cup 1- Luge

Cheer on local BC Athletes on the fastest track in the world at the Whistler Sliding Centre. Guests can spectate for free and can access the sliding centre from the Excalibur Gondola.

DEC 18 – JAN 3

The Whistler Holiday Experience

Bring your kids to the Whistler Conference Centre between 10am – 6pm throughout the holidays for some fun activities such as mini golf, table games, bouncy castle, crafts, video games and more. Note the Whistler Holiday Experience will be closed between Christmas and New Year’s Eve.

Dress Like Santa Day

One of the funniest days of the year! Be one of the first 100 people to arrive at the Garibaldi Lift Company (GLC) in the morning dressed in a full Santa or Mrs. Claus suit and be awarded a free lift ticket.

Whistler sure knows how to celebrate New Year’s Eve! Whistler Village transforms into a family-friendly New Year’s party with lots to do for the whole family. At midnight watch a world-class fireworks display. Don’t forget to check out all of the event happenings at pubs and clubs around Whistler.

BC Cadet Biathlon Championships

Watch the action packed sport of biathlon! Contestants will ski up to 10 kilometers and then shoot at a target 50 meters away. Biathlon combines power, endurance, strength and skills.

JAN 19 – 23

BMW IBSF World Cup Bobsleigh and Skeleton

Whistler

This sixth round of the world cup takes place at the Whistler Sliding Centre- the fastest track in the world. Come cheer on the racers!

Telus Winter Classic 2016

This year marks the 23rd year of Whistler’s fundraising event the Telus Winter Classic. The weekend is action-packed with ski events, live music, food and drink, parties and more. Don’t miss it!

Whistler Pride and Ski Festival

One of the biggest gay and lesbian events in the world- come join the party! The week-long event has an itinerary full of snow-mobiling adventures, pool-parties, skiing, snowboarding and lots more.

Whistler Blackcomb Ski & Snowboard Cross

This recreational competition is open to amateur skiers and boarders 9 – 14 years old. The competition takes place on the Nintendo Terrain Park in different divisions.

Nintendo Family Fun Day

Spend your Family Day at Whistler Blackcomb! The resort turns into a family mecca with multiple stations with games and activities, a family wonder route on the mountain, and lots more to entertain all ages.

FEB 19 – 20

Smirnoff Peak to Valley Race

This classic race is a hit every year. Teams of 4 (must be co-ed) will race the length of Whistler Mountain. The race has a vertical of 1443 meters with 180 gates and is 5 km long. Come for the race and stay for the party!

Luge Canada Cup

Come cheer on the racers at the Luge Canada Cup as they race the fastest track in the world. Located at the Whistler Sliding Centre which is accessible from the Excalibur Gondola.

Audian Art Museum Grand Opening

Set to transform the art scene in Whistler come welcome the new Audian Art Museum. The grand opening is 4 – 10pm starting with a ribbon cutting and followed by a dinner at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler.

MAR 11 – 12

BC Championships Luge

Come cheer on local BC athletes as they race the fastest track in the world for the BC Championships. Located at the Whistler Sliding Centre which is accessible from the Excalibur Gondola.

The GoPro Junior Freeski Event

This high energy event challenges competitors 12 – 18 with big mountain terrain. Put on by the IFSA watch some up and comers from around the world.

Ronald McDonald House BC Ski Challenge

Join celebrity skiers in this fun event raising money for children with serious illnesses, disabilities and chronic conditions. Enjoy a welcome party and an après-ski banquet dinner.

Sport Chek Canadian Championship 2016

Watch downhill ski racing at its finest. The event takes place at the Dave Murray National Training Centre and features world-class athletes over a week of skiing.

Ski Jumping & Nordic Combined Nationals

19th Annual Showcase Showdown

Canada’s longest standing snowboarding competition will join Whistler for its 19th year. The event takes place at various locations around the mountain and the after parties are not to be missed!

World Ski & Snowboard Festival

The biggest event on the winter calendar is the World Ski & Snowboard Festival. Experience 10 big days of sport competitions, free concerts, parties, art exhibits, film screenings and of course skiing and snowboarding! Whistler books up well in advance of this event so book now!

Fidelity BC Cup Races

Come watch FIS racers from Canada and around the world race in the Fidelity BC Cup.

Mom’s Mountain Classic

This fun event is open to mothers and grandmothers of all ages. Race contestants receive coffee, race practice, a time-match race and a lunch coupon.
