The start order is based on age, with the oldest competitors starting first.

The average GS race has 35 gates and a vertical drop of 250 metres. The Peak to Valley race has a vertical drop of 1,443 metres, with 180 gates and a course that's over 5 km long.

The Race Route for 2011, weather permitting, will start below the Saddle in Glacier bowl, proceed under the Peak Chair and along skiers left of the Reservoir. It follows Old Man, Upper Franz and Lower Franz, merging with the Lower Dave Murray at the top of the pitch just able Dusty's in Creekside.

free event

Every Sunday until April 13, 2011

Whistler Blackcomb turns up the heat every Sunday night with the 7-Eleven Fire & Ice Show at 6:30 pm at the base of the Whistler Village Gondola. Fire spinners, fire works and the Ski and Snowboard School's hottest pros throw down big air through a ring of fire, making this event a family-friendly must do. After the show, head upstairs to the GLC's notorious Afterburn Party.
